I can’t quite believe that these photos were taken at the start of this year. 15th January 2022, Yin Lin and I joined Abi and Bryan at Tanjong Pagar to check out the exhibitions. Remember also bumping into Wendy and her friend. These are photos of us waiting in line to get in, it was very packed since it was the last day of SAW 2022.
ANTINODES, Bad Imitation curated by Berny Tan & Daniel Chong, Compartment by CTRL UNIT and Happy House by MAMA MAGNET & The Council were the exhibits we went through.
Quite a few familiar faces in the crowd as well. Was hesitant to speak to Eileen, as I did not know her well. The first time I met Bryan was outside Headquarters. A lot of fond memories were carved there from 2018-2020, forever thankful for her and the team.
Bumped into Chris and Kin as well. Found some peace that day laying down on the beanbag and listening to Kin’s composition.
Bad Imitation’s comically small HDB chairs were a big photo opportunity for a lot of the exhibit goers. I really enjoyed the fish tanks and the anchor smooth shrine.
Might have bumped into a few more people, but right now I can’t remember.
Stepped out for some fresh air and saw a bunch more exhibitions that I can’t recall anymore.
The four of us went to eat tempura don afterwards, it was very filling.
It has been an interesting exercise thus far, looking at these photos and conjuring up memories that have long been not accessed. In addition to being helpful visual aids, the graininess of a lot of these photos contain a certain wistfulness. It also has put me into the practice of writing about friends, which sometimes brings some resistance due to the ever-evolving nature of relationships.
This post however was enjoyable to construct, albeit during a Saturday when all my submissions are looming, and i’m off the heels of another writing rejection.
Finished both my Capstone presentations yesterday which were good. Reconnected with Jax last night, she’s spending the weekend here in Melbourne. Going out now to catch a concert with her.
I’m flying off to find Yin Lin in November, which is very exciting.
Ebbs and flows, ebbs and flows.
